BICYCLING. Our bicycling gang takes advantage of the natural wealth of Messinia in its frequent cycling excursions. One can choose a flat level course, a coastal route, or a rough mountainous terrain. Even one that combines the mountainous landscape with the beauty of the coastline. We mention some of those routes: a) Taking the road to Petalidi or Koroni is a nice coastal tour of the Messinian gulf. b) The crossing of the flat plains of central Messinia from the city of Messini to the ancient city of Ithomi, and on to Valyra, Meligalas and Diavolitsi. c) Touring the mountain villages of upper Messinia is a unique experience: Syrizo, Stasimo, Kakaletri, Neda, Sklirou, Ampeliona. Agios Sostis, with the chance to see the ancient temple of Epicurius Apollo. d) We could not exclude a trip to fascinating Mani.

RAFTING. Peloponnissos may be small but it can satisfy even the most demanding fan of activity and adventure in nature. The Lousios river in the prefecture of Arcadia has a substantial water volume increase only in the months of March and April, but it offers an unforgettable ride among the historic villages of mountainous Gortynia.

ROCK CLIMBING. The club begins a new rock climbing department. Remarkable climbing courses do not exist in the area except for some steep cliffs in the high altitudes of Taygetus and in coastal Mani (Trachila).

CHILD AND MOUNTAIN. A man's personality is shaped at an early age. At this tender age it is easier to be taught to love and respect nature. It is not something that can be taught in a classroom, but only through living experiences, by coming in contact with nature which educates and nourishes. Our club invests in the new blood, by bringing the children to the mountain and to its pleasures.

FOREST FIRE WATCH. Since 1997 the club has been actively involved in the forest fire protection program. The great disaster of Taygetus in 1998 has sensitized many agencies as well as private citizens who volunteer to help with the protection of our forest wealth. The geographic area that is covered is centered on Taygetus but it is not restricted to it. There is collaboration with local volunteer groups in Petalidi, Koroni, Mani, as well as the mountainous area of upper Messinia. The club acts in co-operation with the City Forestry Division of Kalamata, and with the Kalamata Fire Department which is the main co-ordinating instrument.
