Greek

It was founded in 1993 in Kalamata by a company of friends of the mountains and Nature. It is a member of the Hellenic Federation of Mountaineering and Climbing and is approved by the General Athletics Administration of Greece.

It has undertaken the difficult campaign for the decleration of Taygetus as a National Park, as it fulfills the prerequisites of a unique ecosystem, with a great wealth of native species.

It has been actively involved in various programs such as: a) Environmental Education. Close co-operation with the public educational sector for the enhancement of the ecologic ideals in schools, for the inspiration of love and respect for the mountainous nature in the new generation. β) Forest fire protection. In co-operation with the City Fοrestry Division of Kalamata and the Kalamata Fire Department, it contributes with daily patrols to the protection of the forest wealth of Messinia during the summer months. c) Social. Twice a year it organizes a voluntary blood donation event. d) Folklore. It records, studies, and protects the folklore monuments of the mountainous country, such as stone bridges, cobblestone roads, etc.

Our club office is located at: East Center (Anatoliko Kentro) building no 30, near the Tenta sports arena, 241 00, KALAMATA, tel. ++(30) 27210-97733, and it is open every Thursday evening 9:00΄ - 11:00΄p.m. for the regular weekly gatherings, but also in the remaining weekday evenings.
